Teammates ‘frustrated’ with Petracca amid trade reveal

The speculation around Christian Petracca’s future has ramped up as a list of reasons why he supposedly wants to leave the Demons has been revealed.
AFL great Matthew Lloyd has also revealed conversations he’s had with Melbourne players who have grown frustrated with the premiership-winning star.
A report from The Age has revealed that during Petracca’s exit interview with Melbourne on Monday he reiterated his desire to leave the club.

The same report also said Carlton forward Harry McKay could be a trade option if Carlton were to agree.

On Nine’s Footy Classified, it was revealed the reasons Petracca is unhappy included the club’s handling of the situation of Clayton Oliver last year; the club’s management of his injury; Melbourne’s poor form; a desire to play in front of big crowds and the ability to enhance his brand.
The latter part supposedly relates in part to his significant Instagram presence where he has a big following around his cooking content.
Petracca was also scheduled to participate in a pre-game interview with Channel 7 on Friday with conjecture around whether the club or the player himself pulled out of it at the last minute.

Melbourne football boss Alan Richardson told Nine’s 3AW that was down to “miscommunication”.
Lloyd revealed his conversations with Demons players.
“Two days or a week ago I would’ve said you just fight for Christian and you just say you know what, we’re going to have another year at it, let’s see if we can sort things out but I think it’s going past that point,” he said.
“I’m happy to say I’ve bumped into a couple of his teammates and they probably think now it’s best for Christian to leave the club.
“It’s got to the point where they’re frustrated as much with Christian as much as Christian is with the club so it might have got to that point of no return.
“The problem is if Harry McKay says no then the whole thing falls over.”
The speculation around McKay will only intensify the situation around Petracca.
Veteran football journalist Caroline Wilson described it as “the most explosive pre-finals trade story for a long time”.
McKay’s manager told The Age that Carlton hasn’t contacted him about the situation.
